Almost all FANY Riders will gather on SATURDAY, July 20, 2019 at our starting location in Plattsburgh. You can park your car at either the start or end of FANY, and take an optional bus (see below). But if you plan to arrive on Sunday, 7/21/19 the day we really start riding, please arrive by 8:00am. Airports are near either end, with local transportation. Want to join FANY mid route? Check out our 2-day option.
As of 6-5-19, both 7/20 buses up to the start are full. This includes the Full week bus option, the 4-Day option, and the Albany RT option. BUT FEAR NOT! We have added a new option to take your bike & gear up to Plattsburgh, and you can take Amtrak up. Amtrak has a 15% discount for travel within New York State.
Please Note: The 7/26 return bus still has room, for those who park in Plattsburgh, and the 2-Day bus option still has room too.
We start biking near the very top the of NY in Plattsburgh - & bike south to Poughkeepsie. Most people will travel to the start on SAT, 7/20/19 ( FANY will officially begin riding the next day, Sunday.) Maps to the starting location in Plattsburgh will be included in your Riders Packet. (Yes! We have camping arrangements for Saturday night before FANY officially begins.)
Please contact FANY Ride if you wish to pre-ship your bike to FANY.

You can drive to the start in Plattsburgh, leave your car there for free during the FANY Ride, and take an optional bus back after the FANY Ride, - or - you can drive before FANY to Poughkeepsie (where we end) and leave your car there for the week, and take an optional bus up to the start. Use the Sign-up Form to reserve a bus seat for the right day (up from Poughkeepsie SAT 7/20/19, return back to where we started on Plattsburgh FRI 7/26/19)! ALSO - NEW FOR 2019 - shuttles for the 4 Day and 2 Day options.
(NOTE: We apologize that the return bus after FANY is more than the initial bus going up, however it's a math thing. Traditionally more than four times as many people take the initial bus.)
YES! Luggage goes under the bus, and bikes are stood inside the big truck that will become our gear truck for the week (above). FANY rents moving blankets to throw over the bikes, and tie each row of bikes in place. Some bikers also buy foam pipe insulation at any home supply store, and cut it to length to slip over their bike frame and fork for extra protection. (see below)
If you take Amtrak, you will possibly need to pre-ship your full size bike since some Amtrak trains don't accept bikes. (Contact FANY if you plan to pre-ship your bike.) Thankfully NYBC is working hard to lobby for bikes on trains!
Amtrak can take folding bikes all the way to Plattsburgh, OR full sized bikes to Poughkeepsie (also full sized on Metro North). Be sure to allow time to arrive in Poughkeepsie & get to the optional bus to Plattsburgh. Scroll down for appropriate details & schedule.
