Sat. 7/28/18 - Our gathering day - Bikers from all over the country will gather at our new starting place, East Aurora.
a historic village with a play-full heart. We love this town! Main Street is home to boutique shops, Fisher Price headquarters, and Vidler's 5 & 10 Store. You've gotta love a store who's reviews include "...it's like stepping into the past..." and "... WEIRD, in a good way..."
Speaking of weird, but in a good way, check out the local bike store
Chain Ring Rhythm. Bike store
& musical instruments! We told you this town likes to play :-) They're also associated with the 42 North Brewing Company Cycling Team. Sponsored by East
Aurora's very own 42 North
There's so much more to see and do that you'll want to arrive early if you can: the Roycroft Campus - the best preserved and most complete complex of buildings remaining in the U.S. of the "guilds" of craftsmanship during the late 19th century. Quick, who was the 13th President? If you guessed Millard Fillmore, you probably also know that he began his political career in a house here in East Aurora. Also the day we arrive is the East Aurora Street Festival from 9:00am-4:00 - featuring Chalk Art and food vendors along Main Street.
SATURDAY DINNER: Main Street is loaded with restaurants that
are +/- 2 miles from where we are camping. This will also be "reunion weekend" in East Aurora, so you might want to make reservations for your dinner in town.
SATURDAY ACCOMMODATIONS: - Yes! There's camping arrangements for FANY on Saturday night in East Aurora before the ride starts. But if you plan to arrive earlier than that, or after FANY, you'll have to make your own reservations.
BUS NOTE: if you plan to take the optional FANY bus from Saratoga out to the start, you might want to arrive in Saratoga early and enjoy this great town. Fri 7/27/18 is part of the the Saratoga horse racing season, named one of the world’s greatest sporting venues by Sports Illustrated. Reserve a college dorm room at Skidmore College on Friday 7/27/18, within walking distance of downtown Saratoga. (NOTE: the optional bus leaves Skidmore College Saturday 7/28/18 at 11:00am, sharp. ETA approx. 4:45-5:00pm, in time to set-up tent and explore in daylight)
