Monday's Route

Mon. 7/30/18  - Geneseo to Watkins Glen,

82 miles (or make it a century!)

Today's route goes past 3 of the glacier carved  Finger Lakes.  Starting with Conesus Lake (a pinky finger?), then crossing to the top of Canandaigua Lake.  Pack a bathing suit to swim in Kershaw Beach Park?

After Canandaigua keep an eye out for Amish buggies as we head over to Penn Yan.  We coast down 2 glorious miles into Penn Yan, home to The World's Largest Pancake Griddle.  And yes, there's other food options there besides pancakes.

Fields of grapevines and lake views let us know we're approaching Seneca Lake, the deepest Finger Lake, with almost the same amount of water as all the other Finger Lakes combined!  These long skinny lakes are perfect for growing grapes, so we'll pass 8 wineries and/or breweries (go ahead & taste, we'll pick-up your purchases) before we coast 2 mi. downhill into Watkins Glen.

Watkins Glen is our overnight town, and what a town it is!  We'll camp on the shores of Seneca Lake, with restaurants 1/2-1.5 miles from camp.  If you arrive early in town consider renting a Kayak or taking a sunset sail or a site-seeing cruise.  Land lubbers can hike the famous Watkins Glen, check out the trail shuttle service runs to the top until 6:00pm.  The International Motor Racing Research Center  is open til 5:pm, free to racing fans.  (And free to the rest of us too!)  Rooster Fish Brewing is the local craft brewey - relax and enjoy their "liquid carbs" in their beer garden.

NOTE: cabs, boat tours and/or tasting fees are additional, and not included in FANY registration
